Weight-loss drugs are a continuous source of frustration and confusion for the public. The few alternatives that have been marketed failed to provide universally effective treatment or long-term control, are rarely covered by insurance and are very expensive. Additionally, most drugs require frequent visits to the doctor's office, incurring further expense and the inconvenience of lost time. Worst of all, several of these drugs have been pulled from the market due to serious, even fatal, side effects.
