What is the craziest thing you’ve ever heard of a bodybuilder doing?  And what is the dumbest?            The craziest would have to be the bodybuilder from upstate New York who, while preparing for a local bodybuilding contest, injected his right shoulder with the typical daily, 3cc of testosterone cypionate. A few days later, his entire right shoulder was red, hot and swollen— all textbook signs of an acute bacterial infection. Not wanting to smooth out by taking the antibiotics that his friend suggested he use, he instead took Vicodin to numb the agonizing pain, swallowed Tylenol for the brutal fever and covered the gaping hole in his shoulder with a Band-Aid.[FACT: Most antibiotics prescribed for bacterial infections of the skin result in no fluid retention whatsoever. Even if the antibiotic did cause some fluid retention, it would be significantly less than that caused by the massive inflammation of a severe infection.]            Eventually, as the days passed, this individual could no longer stand the pain and his dangerously high fever was overcoming him. When he visited the hospital emergency room, the attending physician said he had never seen such a horrible skin infection.  Because of the aggressive nature of the infection, they were forced to amputate his arm in an attempt to curtail the spread of the infection. However, unbeknown to the doctors, the infection had already spread throughout his entire body.  Sadly, the massive infection, ultimately, overcame him and he died at the young age of 25. A complete waste of a life!            The dumbest thing I have ever witnessed was what my friend, Wray Vasalla, did the night before an NPC Regional National Qualifier in New York City. It was the Friday afternoon prior to his Saturday morning contest and Wray (yes, the spelling is correct) was looking absolutely flawless— his abdominals were sharp, his deltoids were capped and his hamstring-glute tie-ins were looking dry and hard. My advice to him was, “Do nothing! Don’t think! Don’t do anything that is not written on this piece of paper I am giving you!”            “Hmmm!” was his only response.              Saturday morning, I arrived at the show just in time to see Wray walking out onstage to pose with the other light-heavyweights. “Oh my God! What the hell happened to him?!” were the only words out of my stunned mouth.            After getting called out with the worst guys in his weight class— the guy with no Pro-Tan on his body, the guy with a hairy back and the guy who forgot to diet for the show— Wray walked backstage very disappointed.  “Why were you so smooth?” I screamed. “You weren’t eating any sodium and you weren’t drinking any fluids since yesterday. What happened?”“I started cramping, so I decided to drink some salt water,” he nonchalantly mentioned.“Are you insane? Why would you do something so stupid?” I shrieked.            His only answer was, “I was thirsty!”            That was the dumbest thing I’ve ever witnessed, bar none! I want to know more about spot injecting anabolic steroids. I've read that you cannot do spot injections (such as in the biceps and triceps) with certain drugs, such as testosterone cypionate and enanthate, because of the specific esters in the drug. If that is true, how come I can inject cypionate and enanthate into the quadriceps and gluteus muscles?  Also, where does the drug go if it’s supposedly wasted? If you can do spot injections, which drugs can I use for this purpose? (My friend told me not to use Synthol).            First off, anabolic steroids that are suspended in oil can essentially be injected into any muscle group in the body. Some individuals like to inject testosterone propionate or Sustanon-250 (because it contains testosterone propionate as one of its components) into small, “showy” body parts such as the biceps, triceps, calves, or deltoid muscles. This is because this particular ester causes a noticeable inflammatory reaction wherever it happens to be placed. This inflammation is also what makes testosterone propionate injections so uncomfortably painful.            As for this “rumor” you read about (i.e., not being able to spot inject testosterone enanthate and cypionate), it’s a bunch of crap! Think about it logically; it makes absolutely no sense why you could spot inject one oil-based drug but not another.              Truthfully, although the word Synthol seems like such a “dirty” word in today’s world of bodybuilding, Synthol is just a fancy term to describe a bottle of sterile oil (minus the anabolic steroids). Spot-injecting Synthol is a hell of a lot safer than spot injecting anabolic agents into your small muscle groups (arms, calves and deltoids) because Synthol does not possess the irritating effects of whatever esters the specific steroidal compounds are linked to. Similarly, it is extremely difficult to get enough “volume” of anabolic steroids into the muscles  without increasing the milligrams through the roof.            Now, with the presence of companies like Bioimplamed, worrying about dirty site injection oils are a thing of the past because their new product, MyoBioLift (formerly Chris Clark’s Synthesizze Pump ‘n Pose) is made under scrupulously sterile conditions. Additionally, they have tweaked Clark’s original formula to improve absorbability and dispersion within the muscle itself. By the time you read this, my sources tell me this product should be available for purchase.             What is Colostrum and what purpose does it have in a bodybuilder’s supplement program? Is it true that this supplement contains GH and IGF-1?               Colostrum is a nutritional supplement that has been on the market for the last six years. Most advertisements for Colostrum will explain that it’s the pre-milk fluid produced from the mother's breasts during the first 72 hours after birth. (After that initial 72 hours, regular breast milk is liberated). Colostrum provides life-supporting immune and growth factors (specifically relevant to bodybuilders are GH and IGF-1) that ensure the health and vitality of the newborn. What these advertisements do not tell you is that the Colostrum you are consuming (in supplement form) is bovine (cow) Colostrum; therefore, the provided growth factors are bovine GH and bovine IGF-1. Humans cannot respond to protein hormones (such as GH and IGF-1) that are not of the human variety since protein hormones are very species specific. This is why humans who suffer from pituitary dwarfism must use human growth hormone (hGH).  Even more importantly, it should be noted that newborn babies do not have intact digestive tracts (i.e., they do not produce any hydrochloric acid (HCl) in their stomach). The absence of stomach acids in newborns enables the orally ingested Colostrum (and any immune and growth factors found within the Colostrum) to circumvent digestion and be absorbed. Adults, however, have intact digestive tracts, with plenty of HCl secretion; therefore, when they ingest Colostrum (even human Colostrum), the stomach acids denature and deactivate the vast array of growth and immune factors within the Colostrum.  To summarize, even if the supplemental Colostrum sold in nutrition stores was indeed human Colostrum (which it is not), no human (over the age of two weeks) could even utilize any of the GH or IGF-1 factors found within.

Dave, I have done a few small anabolic cycles in the past. I have some Anavar pills (2.5 milligrams) and hopefully, real some Winstrol pills (two milligrams). I am currently on testosterone cream (100 milligrams once daily).  My doctor prescribes the cream. Since I’ve been using the cream, I haven’t seen much in the way of results except for my balls shrinking. This is also the reason I stop most of my cycles prematurely. Is testosterone cream strong enough to do anything aside from shrinking my balls? Should I mix the Anavar or Winstrol in with the cream? Is there anything I can do to stop my balls from shrinking?

Physicians prescribe testosterone cream exclusively as replacement therapy in older adults. I would not consider it to be a significant performance-enhancing agent that would enable you to put on any noticeable or appreciable amounts of muscle. You could conceivably take the Anavar (two to six pills per day) with the Winstrol (four to eight pills per day) and just leave out the testosterone cream altogether. This anabolic cycle would probably result in some decent gains (without the testicular suppression and atrophy you’re used to seeing when using the testosterone cream). Although the gains might not come instantly, if you eat a high-protein diet and have patience with this cycle, the gains will prove to be permanent.
