The IFBB Houston Pro Show, promoted by NPC District Chairman
Lee Thompson, went off without a single hitch on July 4th-- our
country's birthday. As expected,
pre-contest favorites Silvio Samuel and Craig Richardson battled for the 1-2
spot. Despite Richardson's superior size
and presentation, Samuel wowed the crowd with his tiny waist and mind-boggling
conditioning. While no final decision have been made, it'll be interesting how
this battle plays itself out.
Darkhorse Leo Ingram surprised the lineup by bringing a
ripped, densely -muscled, physique to the stage. If Ingram can hold on till tomorrow night, he
should be a lock for 3rd and a qualification for the Mr. Olympia in
late September.
Bill Wilmore brought a much improved upper body along with
superb conditioning. Although he lacks
the size necessary to steal a show from the likes of a Silvio Samuel or Craig
Richardson, his polished looks should make him a cinch for 4th
place.
5th and 6th place is a tossup between
the massive German, Armin Scholz, and an out-of-shape Darrem Charles. Truth be told, Darrem is at least 3 weeks
away from being ready to role; however, his superb shape and presentation make
him appear better than he really is. Scholz
may be lacking in the leg department but I feel he's done enough on this day to
lock up 5th over the veteran, Charles.
