2010 Phoenix Pro
IFBB Figure Pro, Chaundra Tangi Prepares for the Phoenix Pro

I started my contest prep for the Phoenix Pro with as much, if not more, determination and drive as I've ever had in my career as an IFBB Pro.
After a few years off and on stage I contemplated retiring; however, as one of the pioneers in Pro Figure, I felt as though I wasn't ready to stop. My husband and I want another baby soon, but felt as though I needed to pick at least one more show and give 110% to the full 12 week prep. I was extremely successful and even ahead for the first time in my career... Until 5 1/2 weeks out- at that point my husband was hospitalized for Necrotising Faciitis (flesh eating bacteria) and staph infection caused by a small gash he got while playing with our son at the park. Long story-short, he has been through four surgeries and came very close to loosing his leg. (In fact, I'm writing this from his hospital room). Between each surgery he selflessly kept checking on me, asking if I'd done cardio, etc. From the first ER trip at 5 1/2 weeks to less than 3-week out point I hadn't stuck to my diet and wasn't able to train or do cardio. Brian kept encouraging me, so I decided I would press forward and see if I could make up for lost time. I hired a coach to help me and he originally said I'd only be about 80%. I wasn't going to let that happen, so I asked him to let me get back at it and look again in 4 days... I was more determined than ever! Now, I'm one week out and I feel as though I've caught up and will be right where I need to be this weekend! After everything I and my family have come through the past month, I'm proud to walk on stage and present myself with an improved physique and grace that will make my husband and family proud.
