Iris Kyle dominated on her way to a fifth Ms. Olympia title with an overpowering package of mass, shape, and condition that MD publisher Steve Blechman likens to “the female Ronnie Coleman.” Without seeing the scoresheets, I imagine it had to be pretty close between  Iris and newcomer Heather Armbrust. Though Heather doesn’t have the pure mass of Kyle, her physique is amazing in its own right in terms of shape, proportion, and conditioning.

The women this year were in excellent condition in most cases, with several others such as Debi Laszewski, Lisa Aukland, and rookie Kristie Hawkins all displaying clearly striated glutes. Former Ms. O Yaxeni Oriquen seems to have given up a lot of leg mass to achieve better condition, and threw off her X-frame in the process. The lineup featured two PhD’s, Hawkins and Aukland, and two women in the top six, Aukland and Pariso, were over the age of 50. Look for a lot more in the coming years from Armbrust and Laszewski, as well as new talent Gale Frankie.
