212 Showdown Qualification Battle at Muscle Heat Pro!
With only two more 212 shows on the IFBB pro schedule, the qualification race is heating up! After last weekend's Europa SuperShow in which David Henry took the win 14 athletes are now on the 212 Showdown roster:
Kevin English, USAJames Lewis, England
Jose Raymond, USA
Jaroslav Horvath, Slovakia
Stan McQuay, USA
Lyndon Belgrave, Barbados
Fernando de Almeida Noronha, Brazil
*Tricky Jackson, USA
Angel Manuel Rangel Vargas, Mexico
Petr Vanis, Czech Republic
Al Auguste, Haiti
Lukas Osladil, Czech Republic
Jamal Ahmed Elmadawy, Kuwait
David Henry, USA
But the real drama of the new qualification series is going down in the points race. Derek Farnsworth, who earned four points last month when taking second place at the Wings of Strength, took fourth in Dallas, adding two more points for a total of six. Farnsworth's six points puts him into third place in the 212 series standings bumping New York Pro second place finisher Sami Al Haddad (who has 5 points total) down to fourth.
But this weekend's Muscle Heat Pro in Greensboro, NC proves to be a showdown before the Showdown! There are about a half dozen 212 pros on the bubble that still have a chance to claw their way into the top five for a 212 Showdown berth! Guy Cisternino, who will be competing this at the Muscle Heat Pro currently sits tied for fifth with Mark Dugdale and Masoom Butt with four points each.
Also competing on Saturday are Raul Carrasco Jiminez and Ahmad Ahmad who are each in shooting distance for qualification each holding three points in the race. Another 212 competitor who might be able to qualify for the 212 Showdown with a "Hail Mary" attempt is Marvin Ward who placed fifth last week in Dallas, earning one point.
Of course, whoever wins the Muscle Heat Pro will get the proverbial "golden ticket" and be instantly qualified for the Showdown and will not have try to qualify via the points series route. But with already qualified Tricky Jackson, who took second at the Europa SuperShow, on the Muscle Heat Pro roster, the "golden ticket" might be too difficult for any of these guys to snatch!
