Formula Will Be a Game Changer

Guy, what is the product that is being launched by Centurion Labz and yourself? I know that you have been working on you signature series with them and was interested what all the hype is behind this product, because I have been hearing so much about this.

What’s up, my man? Since I know the product will be out by the time this article is published, I don’t mind sharing what the product is and how I developed it. Going back years, I always drank a whey protein isolate and simple carb, post-training. Even at times during the day, I would drink the same combo for a meal replacement. One thing I hated was having to do two or three scoops of whey protein, then another two scoops of the complex carb powders. It was a ton of powder, and a lot of times it was so thick, it would turn into a cement-like consistency— and let’s not get into the price of them. If you buy a five-pound jug of REAL whey protein isolate (I’m stressing REAL based on all the amino spiking that many companies have been doing lately), then you are easily paying 60-80 bucks per jug of protein. Then, a jug of highly branched-chained cyclic dextrin or HBCD (this is the ONLY carb source I have been using for three years) … that’s another 50 bucks so easily well over $100 for that, which lasts not that long.

What I always wanted was a product that combined the two products, giving you a 1:1 ratio of protein to carbs. So with the help of the guys at Centurion Labz, we did just that. After months and months of beta testing, we combined whey protein isolate and HBDC to bring you guys UNRIVALED! One scoop of UNRIVALED gives you 25 grams of protein and 25 grams of HBCD. This wasn’t something that was easy to formulate, along with getting the flavor the way we wanted it. We went through various manufacturers and hundreds of beta tests, because I was extremely picky about how it tastes. We developed Raspberry Cheesecake and Chocolate, and I must say the flavors are banging. Make sure to pick up a jug and give it a try. This product is going to be a game changer in the fitness industry! For the latest news and updates, follow us @Centurion_Labz and @Centurionlegion.

Overtraining Can Prevent Gains

Guy, what are your thoughts about overtraining? So many people think you cannot overtrain, only undereat. Is this true? Hearing that makes me think I should be in the gym for two to three hours, rather than the hour to hour and a half I spend in there now.

I have heard that many, many times as well and the answer is YES, you can overtrain! Think about it— you can only drive a car until it runs out of gas, needs new tires, needs an oil change … the list goes on and on. I have trained with Charles Glass now going on three years, and he is the BEST trainer in the world. He has taught me more than I ever could imagine when it comes to training, and he believes that overtraining is very possible.

Many times it’s the guys who train TOO long and do TOO much who are the ones that have problems making gains. I have even seen interviews where certain people say you can only undereat and not overtrain, which is a bunch of bullshit. This is my theory: besides legs and back (since they are larger body parts), I only train for about an hour to an hour and a half, max! When it comes to back and legs, it’s closer to two hours or a little more. So as long as you are busting your ass every single set, training heavy with good form and getting a decent amount of reps (10-15), you don’t need to spend all day in the gym. You grow and recover when you’re resting and sleeping … remember that!

Predictions for 212 Showdown

Guy, what are your predictions for this year’s 212 Showdown?

This year is going to be a crazy lineup. There are going to be 23 competitors, but some of those who were there last year won’t be in attendance this year. As of now, (beginning of August as I write this) Aaron Clark is not qualified, Baito is extremely sick and hopefully getting better every day, Sami al Haddad isn’t qualified yet and I heard Kevin English might be doing it, so a lot of things are up in the air. This is my top six, in no order: Myself, Flex, Jose, Eduardo, Hidetada Yamagishi and David Henry. That’s where I see the final places being at the end of the day.
