Olympia Weekend: A Powerful New Vision

Nearly every part of the Olympia experience has received an infusion of energy, excitement and upgraded production value. Olympia Weekend has evolved into something not to be missed.

If you’ve been among the lucky fans who attended Olympia Weekend in recent years, you’ve likely noticed a new look to the event regarded as the “Super Bowl” of the fitness industry. Nearly every part of the Olympia experience has received an infusion of energy, excitement and upgraded production value.

Under the direction of Olympia President Dan Solomon and the ownership of Jake Wood, Olympia Weekend has overcome major obstacles, while testing new boundaries in stage production. Nearly every phase of the event has received a shot in the arm. Whether it’s a new Press Conference format, a more energized Meet the Olympians experience, or a complete overhaul to the staging technology, Olympia Weekend has evolved into something not to be missed.

The arrival of the popular Wellness Olympia division to the Friday evening Finals now means that there are 11 Olympia titles up for grabs this December as the event makes its highly anticipated return to the Las Vegas Strip.

When the new ownership group took over, the event had just spent 15 years at the Orleans Arena and the attached hotel, an off-the-strip location that often had fans seeking alternative places to stay. As part of an ambitious plan, organizers immediately identified new venues, giving away to a fresh look, a more exciting experience, while also solving challenges that accompanied a global pandemic.

This year the event will enjoy two host hotels. Planet Hollywood is home to the main stage production while The Venetian will serve as the official Expo hotel now that the Expo is being held at the beautiful Venetian Expo and Convention Center (formerly known as the Sands Convention Center) located inside The Venetian and connected to The Palazzo. Discounted room rates for both hotels can be accessed at MrOlympia.com

Solomon tells MD, “The work never stops. The moment one Olympia ends, we begin planning for the next. We are constantly testing innovations in production and new ways to heighten the overall fan experience. Some ideas work, and some don’t. But the goal is to constantly evolve.”

With prize money at an all-time high, VIP tickets completely sold out, and record sponsorships, it’s safe to say that things are going well for the event that started 58 years ago. If you’re looking for the perfect way to end 2022, make your way to Vegas the weekend of December 15-18th. You’ll be glad you did.
