FLASH REPORT FROM THE INAUGURAL VALENTI CUP

It started out as a battle for the ages – two men, one chance left at an Olympia qualification. Eduardo Correa and Seth Feroce both came to Sarasota in search of redemption at the Valenti Cup. Both had tried their hand at the open; both had won their last 202 show. Neither had fared as well as they’d hoped in the open, leading them here.

When the dust settled, nothing was as predicted. There was no epic battle. It was clear from the moment he walked out that Eduardo was in a league of his own. Raul Carrasco Jimenez came the closest to giving Correa a run for his money, but he just couldn’t match the condition of Correa, or his superb balance from top to bottom.

Seth Feroce failed to make first callout, and not one person in the audience was surprised. He was not ready for this show. His soft condition would have made it hard, if not impossible, to justify a first callout or top five placing. Charles Dixon, Benjamin Parra Nunoz, and Branden Ray rounded out the top guys.  None of them had any major flaws. They were just not as sharp as Correa, but then again, nobody really was.

In Pro Fitness, we saw Myriam Capes nab the win, narrowly beating out a very strong showing from Camala Rodriguez. Myriam’s routine was incredible and was just too strong for anybody in Sarasota to top.

Figure went as expected - it was the Erin Stern show! From the moment she walked out, she controlled the stage and her completion. She and Candice John were both already qualified and likely using this show as a warm-up, and a clear indication that they will be ready come Olympia weekend. In the runner up spot, Kamla Macko made the most of her pro-debut and will likely soon be in the winner's circle herself.  The surprise of the evening was Aleiasha Hart. She brought a completely different package from the last time we saw her on stage, turning her already notable physique into a stellar one.

Pro Bikini was set apart from other classes in that no one was expected to win. There were no clear favorites or obvious choice going into the show. Fan favorite Vida Guerra was in the first callout, but was not quite tight enough to nab the win here. In the end, it was a tight race between Lacy Deluca and Yeshaira Robles, with Yeshaira nabbing her first win!

While not vying for any Olympia qualifications, the Valenti Cup did have both Pro Men’s and Women’s Physique. The exotic Karina Nacimento took her second Pro Physique win, while New Yorker Sadik Hadzovic took his first.  The physique division is still in its infancy, and eyes are still watching to see what the judges are looking for on both the men’s and women’s sides.

That wraps up the season for all the division except for Bikini. There’s one more Pro Bikini Show in St. Louis before everyone heads to Las Vegas for the big show!  Check out MD's OLYMPIA COVERAGE HERE!
