MHP News - Hafthor Sets Throwing World Record
Massive Hafthor Bjornsson, the Team MHP strongman who plays the character Mountain on HBO’s wildly popular Game of Thrones, was a major attraction at the 2015 Arnold Classic. The 6’9”, 400 lb. Icelander was the headliner on the Arnold Expo Stage on Sunday when he set a new world record in the “Weight Over Bar” event in front of more than 25,000 hysterical fans. This is a Highland Games traditional event that requires the competitor to swing a 56 lb. weight and then toss it over a high bar (similar to a pole vault bar) with one hand. Thor’s historic 19’3” upright throw wowed the crowd and was submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records for recognition and publication as a new world mark.
