Building Mass That's Classic | Next MD Issue

We haven’t seen a whole lot of promising talent emerging from the British Isles since the era of six-time Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates. That all changed a few years ago when a new wave of UK bodybuilders began making waves on the pro scene, including Nathan De asha, Rosie “Rascal” Harte, Ricardo Correia, Sasan Heirati and James Hollingshead. Thus far, only Nathan has made an impact at the Mr. Olympia level, but big Luke Sandoe, who is on the cover of this month’s MD, could soon join him. Many bodybuilding fans hold an extra level of appreciation for champions who are as strong as they look, and Luke fits that bill to a T.

It wasn’t until this year at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio that we finally got to witness just how deadly Luke’s physique can be. He has the type of thick, rugged density of other incredibly strong bodybuilders like Branch Warren, Dorian and Ronnie Coleman, with pleasing shape and balance to go along with it. Luke was massive, thick and dense at 5-foot-8 and 272 pounds, with a wide structure and full muscle bellies. Many of us were having flashbacks of the great Dorian himself. Learn more about this Redcon1 athlete in “The UK Juggernaut:Meet Luke Sandoe, the Newest Star to Rise From Great Britain.”

Steve Laureus won his pro debut before finishing his rookie season off with seventh place at the Olympia out of 25 men. What struck most in attendance was his stunning shape, structure and balance. One look at those tiny joints, full muscle bellies and flowing lines, and there is no doubt this man was born to be a Classic Physique pro. Does this MFIT Supps athlete set the standard for the Classic Physique division? Read his story in “Steve Laureus: Built for This!Is He the Most ‘Classic’ in Classic Physique?”

IFBB Bikini pro Angelica Teixeira has the perfect blend of beauty, curves and muscle tone that has set the standard for excellence in Bikini. She has only competed as a professional for three seasons, but in that short span of time she managed to rack up an astounding 12 wins, including the Bikini Olympia and the Bikini International in both 2017 and 2018, and victory at the Arnold Classic Australia both years as well. Meet this GAT SPORT® athlete in “Angelica Teixeira:The Queen of Pro Bikini!”

You think you’re doing everything right in the gym, so why aren’t you growing? What if you could be making gains right now if you made some adjustments and did things differently? MD’s Ron Harris looks at common training errors we all make that prevent us from getting as huge as we want to be, and how to fix them, in “Stop F*cking Up Your Gains!7 Mistakes You’re Making Right Now.”

You’ve probably seen those Bang Revolution posts on Instagram. They are very engaging. Its growth in the mass market has been an amazing success, competing with the likes of Monster Energy drinks and Red Bull. Learn more in “Jack Owoc and the Bang Revolution.”

When the king of bodybuilding talks, the world listens. Every year on the Sunday morning after the Arnold Classic, fans have the chance to attend a seminar headed by the man himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger. In “Arnold Speaks!Highlights From the 2019 Arnold Classic Seminar,” the most influential bodybuilder of all time as well as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars reminisces about two-time Mr. Olympia Franco Columbu and eight-time Mr. Olympia Lee Haney, and has some advice for seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath.

Not so long ago, IFBB pro Jonathan DeLaRosa’s life was the envy of many. But his world was turned upside down quickly, as a bomb was dropped on him four days before heading off to compete in the 2018 Arnold Classic. As Jonathan preps for his seventh appearance at the New York Pro this month, he tells MD how he turned things around, including his longstanding relationship with Betancourt Nutrition, in “The Rebirth of Jonathan DeLaRosa.”
