Blessing Awodibu: The Boogieman Cometh

One thing we could all use now is some good, uplifting news – about bodybuilding or anything else, for that matter. That’s one reason we put Blessing Awodibu on the cover of this month’s MD. Sure, his videos have gone viral, with YouTube views in the millions. While many bodybuilders become Internet sensations, Blessing has much more to offer. He’s a larger-than-life, entertaining personality known in part for being fed bananas by chimps and terrorizing gym mates in a horse mask. “I’m a positive guy and I love sharing positive energy,” he tells MD. “And everybody loves a good laugh!”

To say that Blessing is not your average bodybuilder would be an understatement. He’s a young man with serious potential to do damage in the pro ranks with his combination of size, shape, a tiny waist, and muscle density. Meet this Redcon1 athlete on the rise in “Blessing In Disguise?Blessing Awodibu – The Boogieman Waiting to Make His Pro Debut.”

When you stop and think about some of the best chests of all time, men like Arnold, Lee Haney and Ronnie, they all had upper pecs that were thick as bricks, almost scraping their chins in a side chest pose. It’s the complete pectoral development from top to bottom that makes for a truly outstanding chest. Anyone can improve his or her upper chest if they apply concentrated effort and think outside the box of traditional chest training. MD’s Ron Harris offers an “Upper Deck Upgrade!8 Ways to Make Your Upper Chest Thick as a Brick.”

Shoulders can never be too big. Even when a man has an ideal bone structure whose proportions feature ultra-wide clavicles and a narrow waist, as we see with Patrick Moore, greater development and detail of the deltoids serves only to enhance the coveted V-taper. Find out how the man they call The Future built his impressive shoulders, and how he has fine-tuned and perfected his deltoid workouts in “Moore Delt Mass: How Patrick Moore Blasts Shoulders.”

Sergio Oliva Jr. is a bodybuilder who knows how to make an impact. He competed in the 2020 Arnold Classic with 12 pounds of brand-new muscle mass and in superb condition. In a lineup that featured four past Arnold Classic champs, a former Mr. Olympia, plus 300 pounds of Big Ramy, Sergio successfully fought his way to the top five as well as earning the Best Poser award. Sergio reflects on his challenges and accomplishments in “Power Serge! Sergio Oliva Jr.’s Electrifying Return at the Arnold Classic.”

When Terrence Ruffin won the 2018 Toronto Pro, his name was added to the Bumsteads, the Breons and the Petersons as Classic Physique athletes who were really going to move up to the biggest bodybuilding event in the world. It was Terrence’s posing routine that proved to be a game changer. Minds were blown, the spectators were amazed, and as Arnold said in Pumping Iron, “Now this … is posing.” Learn more about this Steel Supplements athlete in Giles Thomas’ exclusive interview, “The Rise of Ruffin.”

One thing about the COVID-19 pandemic of particular relevance to bodybuilders is that none of us will ever take the gym for granted ever again, after being in self-quarantine and stuck at home much of the time. But did you consider that this whole debacle was a good thing for your gains in the long run? Ron Harris explains why the quarantine will lead to an improved physique for you in “9 Reasons Quarantine Is Great for Gains!”
