Mental Edge! Power Your Brain With Cognizin®

Bodybuilders are always on the lookout for ways to gain a competitive edge, both physically and mentally. Many might not be familiar with Cognizin® and the benefits for enhancing mental performance, including enhanced focus and concentration. And what many may not realize is that it could be a superior form of choline in pre-workouts that’s TMAO-free and could offer notable health benefits.

Keep Your Brain’s Energy Centers Firing

Citicoline is a potent brain-health nutrient and nootropic that is naturally occurring in every cell of the body and is especially vital to brain health. Citicoline increases an important substance in the brain called phosphatidylcholine that is critical for healthy brain function. Cognizin® is a proprietary, branded and patented form of citicoline from Kyowa Hakko USA, Inc., that has been shown by clinical trial data to support:

• Mental Energy

• Focus

• Attention

• Memory

• Cognitive Health

Cognizin® citicoline provides nutritional support for attention, focus and memory. It helps keep your brain’s energy centers firing. Clinical research has found that Cognizin® supports the health of mitochondria, the powerhouses within cells that actually produce the brain’s energy. Healthy mitochondrial function results in higher levels of ATP – your body’s main energy storage molecule in brain cells.

A Superior Form of Choline

Research published in Nutrients concluded that citicoline is a superior form of choline, which is found in some pre-workouts, given citicoline’s propensity to resist being hydrolyzed to TMA and subsequently to TMAO. A growing body of evidence suggests that TMAO may contribute to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Researchers examined the acute toxicity data and pharmacokinetics of citicoline compared to choline and concluded that the metabolism of citicoline is different from that of choline. It was suggested that the choline from citicoline is not subject to hydrolysis by intestinal microbes, thereby producing TMA further metabolized into TMAO. Based on this, it can be concluded that citicoline is a TMAO-free option. That is why Cognizin® citicoline would be preferable over other forms of choline as an ingredient in pre-workout formulas.

The researchers agreed, stating: “There are reasons to believe that procognitive effects of citicoline supplementation are superior over those of choline or phosphatidylcholine.”

Cognizin®for Hard Training Athletes

Cognizin®is a superior form of choline, which is converted into the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the body. Acetylcholine is required for proper muscle functioning and muscle contraction, as it opens receptors on muscle cells, triggering the process of muscle contraction.Choline concentrations in the body have been shown in research to drop after prolonged, high-intensity, exercise. Therefore, Cognizin®supplementation would be a great replacement for hard-training athletes.
