Frequently Asked Questions Regarding TRT

1) What is andropause? By the term andropause, we define the decline of male hormones that declares the middle-age crisis. This is a gradual process that takes place around the age of 40.

2) How is andropause diagnosed? By the specific lab work that includes a hormonal panel mainly, along with clinical symptoms that verify blood work. We are looking for either primary or secondary hypogonadism.

3) What are the symptoms of andropause? Erectile dysfunction, depression, low self-esteem, muscle weakness, fatigue, fogginess, omental fat accumulation, anemia, low bone mineral density, insulin resistance.

4) What kind of labs do I need to do? A hormonal panel that includes: LH, FSH, TT, FT, E2, PRL, SHBG, SDHEA.

5) What are the side effects of HRT? Occasionally erythrocytosis, estrogen production, androgenic alopecia, prostate enlargement, sleep apnea, oligospermia.

6) Are they any contradictions? Prostate cancer/PSA>4.0, sleep apnea, low HDL, erythrocytosis.

7) What drugs are used in men’s HRT? Testosterone, DHEA, mesterolone, pregnenolone, HCG and HGH (optional).
