Intermittent Fasting and Keto Diet Good for Muscle Growth?
Q: Is intermittent fasting/keto diet good for muscle growth?
A: intermittent fasting and the keto diet are ideal diets in order to shed the stubborn fat. However, they aren’t a good idea if you want to pack on mass and beef. The reason is intermittent fasting/keto diets work with low calories and low carbs. This obviously lowers insulin and insulin-like growth factor, major anabolic hormones in the body. Moreover, restriction of calories and food deprivation will lead to low insulin. That, in turn, will elevate SHBG protein. As a result of this, the bioavailable free testosterone will lower. Additionally, intermittentfasting/keto diets lowers muscle glycogen stores, the fuel tank of the body. Nevertheless, for those who still desire to lift while undergoing this kind of nutrition, my suggestion is to use medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) pre-workout along with ketosomes (BMB). These compounds provide acute energy supply under ketosis and prolonged fasting periods.
PS: Another reason intermittent fasting/keto diets aren’t anabolic is because they lower mTOR or rapamycin, the signaling of muscle growth: “The fuel tank of the body.”
